VOIP internet phone service (Voice Over IP) does not meet Chaperone Medical Alert System's customer care standards as a satisfactory method of transmitting emergency calls. VOIP can be unreliable with any medical or even burglar alarm system. Note that you may experience service problems as well as dropped calls which may result in a delay in help reaching you in an emergency.

If you do connect a unit to a VOIP line you can lessen, but not eliminate, your chances of a dropped or interrupted connection by using the proper filters supplied to you by your cable or DSL VOIP supplier.
